Laura (Souza) Capone

GLOUCESTER — Laura (Souza) Capone, 47, wife of Joseph M. Capone of Gloucester, died on Friday morning, July 4, 2008 at the Addison Gilbert Hospital after a battle with cancer.

She was born in Long Island, N.Y. on Nov. 1, 1960, daughter of Katharine (Blick) Souza of Gloucester and Donald A. Souza of New Jersey.

Laura graduated from Gloucester High School, Class of 1978 and continued her education in Boston. She worked for many years at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge, moving her way up to the position of senior associate dean for the division of student life administration and director of organizational performance and human resources.

Laura was not only a wife and mother but also her husband Joseph and daughter Erica's best friend.

She enjoyed spending quality time with her daughter Erica and entertaining family and friends at her home. The family dogs gave her great pleasure. She enjoyed boating, going to the theater, traveling and interior decorating. She lived her life to the fullest and always cared and was thoughtful of others.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 25 years, Joseph Michael Capone and her cherished daughter, Erica Rachel Capone both of Gloucester; her parents, Katharine Souza of Gloucester and Donald Souza of New Jersey; her sisters, Joan Ballarin and her husband Alex and Phoebe Souza all of Gloucester; her nephew, A. J. Ballarin of Gloucester; her mother-in-law, Antonina Capone of Gloucester; sisters-in-law, Stephanie Capone and Francine Capone both of Gloucester; brother-in-law, Frank Capone of Gloucester and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was predeceased by her father-in-law, Anthony Capone.
