GLOUCESTER — Ronald P. Cusick, 67, died Saturday, April 12, 2008 in the Addison Gilbert Hospital following an extended illness.
Born in Gloucester on March 3, 1941, he was the son of the late Robert W. Sr. and Priscilla (Sawyer) Cusick. He was a graduate of Gloucester High School and had resided in Gloucester most of his life.
He was a decorated U.S. Army veteran, having served three tours of duty in Vietnam and 22 years of service to his country. He was awarded The Bronze Star Medal for heroism in ground combat, The Army Commendation Medal for his performance of exceptionally meritorious service in support of the U.S. objectives in the Republic of Vietnam and The Meritorious Service Medal for exceptional meritorious service while assigned to the U.S. Army Readiness and Mobilization Region VI.
Following his retirement from the U.S. Army, Ron worked at Varian in Gloucester for 10 years.
He is survived by his father, Vito G. Benedetto of Gloucester; two brothers, Robert W. Cusick Jr. of Gloucester and David "Skip" Cusick of Cape May, N.J.; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Joyce E. and C. Michael O'Maley of Gloucester, Marjorie and Larry Meinerth of Winter Haven, Fla. and Marilyn A. Misuraca of Gloucester; an aunt, Rosemarie Sawyer of Gloucester; and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
