Superintendents Awards

Four Gloucester High School seniors were cited for special awards by the Massachusetts Associations of School Superintendents and honored by Gloucester Superintendent Christopher Farmer at the school's annual Academic Awards Night Thursday.
Seniors Marcus Busby, Sarah Johnson, Courtland Kelly, and Chloe Rideout were presented the Superintendents Association Academic Excellence Awards by Farmer during the GHS ceremonies.
"While the awards are nominally for academic excellence," Farmer said, "I also look for students who demonstrate evidence of real scholarship, have participated fully in the life of the school, provided leadership to their peers, and made a significant contribution through service to the community.
"I meet with students individually before making decisions on the awards," Farmer added. "Each year, I am privileged to get to know some outstanding young adults of whom any community would be justifiably proud.
This year's recipients came through O'Maley Middle School and the High School — and are headed to Stanford, Bowdoin, Harvard and McGill respectively," he noted.
