Current occupation- AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellow at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Washington, DC in the Global Change Research Program. This is a two year fellowship to get scientists involved in policy. My work there is planning for adaptation to the impacts of climate change on estuaries.

Education: Gloucester High School 1994

Carleton College, BA Physics 1998

University of Washington, MS - Oceanography 2002,
PHD – Oceanography 2006

I studied the circulation of Puget Sound using computer models. By understanding how the water moves, my research helps understand fish kills caused by low oxygen in the deep water and plan for the siting of a sewage treatment plant.

Career Goal: I’m still figuring this out.

Recent achievement: kayaked the Inside Passage from Washington State to Alaska in summer of 2007. A solo trip of 1200 miles.
