The Gloucester High School Distributive Education Clubs of America team is heading to Boston next week for the state championships and their members couldn't be more excited.
Those heading to the state competition are seniors Joseph LaRocca, Jon MacDonald, Heidi Marquis, Andrew Nicastro, Michael McDuffee, Ryan Pinkham, Joseph Cromosini, Arthur Coleman and Lisa Spillman.

The team won the bid to the championship by placing first in the district competition last month.

This will be Nicastro's first time at such an event and he can hardly wait.

"What I heard from (classmates) is that it's a lot of fun but is also very competitive," said Nicastro who will be involved in a competition where teams will pitch business plans to a contest judge.

Nicastro said the business plan, which he and LaRocca have been working on this year, involves opening up a pirate theme cruise ship.

MacDonald said he will be taking part in a solo competition involving retail merchandise.

He said the event revolves around an entrepreneurial test and management role-playing.
