Columbia, MO  Dr. Williams joined the School of Nursing faculty in 1999. She has an undergraduate degree in education from the University of Maine at Orono, and a Master's Degree in animal physiology from the University of Arizona and a PhD in physiology from Pennsylvania State University.  Dr. Williams' area of expertise is cardiovascular physiology with emphasis in microcirculation, control of blood flow, and capillary permeability. She has research expertise using both human and animal models. Dr. Williams is a former winner of the Outstanding Young Investigator Travel Award from the Microcirulatory Society, Inc., has received funding from the National American Heart Association, and is funded currently with an RO1 from the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NIH). Dr. Williams is also a co-investigator on an RO1 from the National Institute of Nursing Research (NIH) in the area of chronic venous insufficiency.
