Gloucester High alumnus Jonathan Loyte did not have a reception in Boston College's 25-24 victory over Navy in the Meineke Car Care Bowl, Dec. 30. Loyte, a junior tight end, finished the season with six receptions for 42 yards and two touchdowns. BC finished 10-3.

Gloucester's Jack Reed did not play in Kansas State's 37-10 loss to Rutgers in the inaugural Texas Bowl, Dec. 29. Reed, a sophomore tight end, did not record a statistic for the 7-6 Wildcats.

Gloucester High alumnus Mike Borowski is looking to make the transition to NCAA hockey next season.

The former Fishermen defenseman currently plays at Bridgton Academy - a one-year postgraduate school in North Bridgton, ME. He leads all Bridgton defenseman in ice-time and points - as he did for last year's Gloucester Division 2 state championship team.

"It's a whole different level of hockey," Borowski said. "It's between college and high school. It's probably between junior (hockey) and college."

Borowski is considering enrolling at University of Southern Maine or Merrimack College next fall. His physical style of play made him a crowd-favorite at the Dorothy Talbot Rink. A few fans still wear replicas of Borowski's No. 3 jersey during home games.

"It's weird coming back to Gloucester and seeing people wearing my jersey," Borowski said. "That's how they feel. There's nothing I can do about it."
